Holy crap!  I don’t think I realized there were only 27 days left until just now.

Well, my training is going ok.  Last week my left hip started hurting after an 8 mile run.  I keep hoping it will get better, but it’s not.  It hurts deep inside, like at the joint, not the muscle.  After talking to several running friends about it, they referred me to an ART doctor.  I had no idea what this was, so I googled it.  This came directly from the doctor’s website :

A.R.T. is a patented, state of the art soft tissue system/movement based massage technique that treats problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves.  Headaches, back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, shin splints, shoulder pain, sciatica, plantar fasciitis, knee problems, and tennis elbow are just a few of the many conditions that can be resolved quickly and permanently with ART.  These conditions all have one important thing in common: they are often a result of overused muscles.

So, I now have an appointment this week.  My longest run yet is coming this weekend and I hope to be feeling better by then.  I’m running 22 miles!!!!  I hope that doctor can work some magic.  I ran 21 miles 2 weeks ago and found that wall everyone refers to at mile 20.  My legs felt like lead and I kept having to repeat “the resolve to finish” through my head.  We ran a pretty fast pace, so I’m feeling pretty confident I can finish if I just slow down a tad.

I ran the McGuire Mud Run this past Saturday.  My husband was supposed to run with me, but was deployed, naturally.  I ended up running by myself.  You have no idea how many times I tried to talk myself out of it.  I came up with 101 excuses.  I was mostly just so scared of doing it alone.  All those obstacles had me shaking in my running shoes!  But I did it!  All 17 obstacles with not one ounce of help.  I’m so glad I did it, but really wish I’d had friends along side me.  That would’ve made it fun instead of overwhelming.  You wouldn’t believe how many bruises I have!  I keep finding them.  I was scrubbing the heck out of my arm in the shower today wondering where all that dirt came from and realized it was one huge bruise!  It’s funny how you don’t realize you’re getting hurt when you have all that adrenaline running through you.

I’ll be sure to post how my doctor’s appointment goes.  I do NOT like to go to doctors or admit I need help, so you know I’m hurting if I’m going to see the doc.
