I know I know….. there are so many things that are hard about even thinking this word. You are embarrassed, you feel awkward, you don’t know what to do, you don’t have time, the list goes on and on. You know what? These are all EXCUSES!!!!!!! Make a promise to yourself right now. NO MORE EXCUSES. I have done all of my workouts in my own home. I never joined a gym. I’m a stay at home mom with a husband in the military gone on long deployments and no family anywhere near by. If I can do it, you can too. So by doing it at home, we’ve already taken care of the first two excuses. No need to feel embarrassed or awkward if no one else is around. But if you do join a gym, I have something else to share. No one is going to look at you and wonder what you are doing there. We will think, good for her/him!!!!! I feel such a sense of pride for people that are just starting out and find the strength to get out there and just do it. Finding the time is a bit harder to do, I’ll admit. I used to try to do it at night after the kids went to bed. But I found that I was still full from dinner, and had had all day to come up with a million excuses why I couldn’t work out. So, I decided to get up in the morning before the kids woke up. I had purchased a treadmill from Craigslist and had a few free weights and just alternated between the two. At first, my kids didn’t like the fact that I wasn’t in bed when they got up. But now, they wake me up to work out if I oversleep! Its just something mommy does now and they are totally ok with it. So, finding the right time of day is important. We all have time, but usually we have to give something up in exchange. I gave up sleep. Some might give up tv time, or cleaning the house time (I’ve done that also….sometimes my house is a disaster, but at least I got my workout in). We just have to re-prioritize our life. Your life is not going to change if you are not willing to change what you’ve been doing.
